Stage Crew
Stage Crew Show Supervisor
Santa Fe Opera

Working up through the stage crew department, I have spent the last few summers learning more about how to run a carpentry run crew. Keeping communication at the forefront of my values, I work to do my part in running five operas in rep.  This role challenged me to keep learning each day, whether it was about rigging, operating a turn table, or how to make professional relationships with the crew. I worked with the apprentices directly to ensure that when any of us had questions, we were able to ask each other how to attack a problem.

I have always believed that a stage manager should have the knowledge of other departments to be able to quickly problem solve and help fix situations that come up during any show. I have not only been a part of building massive sets, but also assisted in loading and striking them. Our shop has provided me with lessons regarding power tools for wood and steel, while also emphasizing the importance of salvaging materials and how to properly and safely recycle. The gallery shows some various shots of projects I have worked on.

This lighting design highlights the exaggerated darkness with the rest of the show, while retaining the elements of the lighthearted elements of the story. A combination of LED and conventional lights were used to create simple yet believable lighting tones. While no lights could be hung or moved, refocusing is what allowed detailed designs to be successful.
